I'd always wondered what it would be like if a cashier saw my credit card and recognized me as her favorite author or something.
But fantasies don't always turn out like you think, for the first time something like that happened was when the lady who gives me a mammogram had a stack of books waiting for me to autograph. When I arrived in the exam room shrouded in that flimsy cape they give you, she handed me a pen and asked if I'd mind.
